George A. Cooper

Biyografi

George A. Cooper — Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, UK doğumlu, 1925-03-07. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. George A. Cooper, Leeds'te doğduktan sonra elektrik mühendisliği ve mimarlık eğitimi aldı. Ulusal Hizmet için çağrıldığında, Hindistan'daki Kraliyet Topçu Birliği'nde görev yaptı ve bu süreçte sahne performanslarına ilgi duymaya başladı. Askerlik hizmetinin ardından, Manchester'daki Joan Littlewood'un Tiyatro Atölyesi'ne katıldı. Amerikalı aktör George Cooper ile karışmamak için sahne isminin ortasına baş harfini ekledi. 1946 yılında televizyon kariyerine başladı ve sonraki elli yıl boyunca ekranlarda yer aldı; genellikle hafif beceriksiz otoriter karakterleri canlandırdı. 1964 yılında ITV'nin Coronation Street dizisinde Willie Piggott karakteriyle düzenli bir rol üstlendi. Z-Cars ve Dixon of Dock Green gibi yapımlarda da yer aldı. 1960'da West End'de Billy Liar oyununda baş karakterin babasını oynadı ve 1973'teki televizyon serisinde bu rolü yeniden canlandırdı. Bazı komedi dizilerinde de yer aldı ve 1985'te Grange Hill'de Eric Griffiths rolüyle büyük bir başarı elde etti.
