Patrick Troughton — Mill Hill, London, England, UK doğumlu, 1920-03-25. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Patrick Troughton, Mill Hill, Middlesex, İngiltere'de bir avukatın oğlu olarak büyümüştür. Eğitimine Mill Hill School'da başladıktan sonra, oyunculuk kariyerine yönelmek üzere New York'taki Tonbridge School'a gitmiştir. II. Dünya Savaşı'nın başlamasıyla birlikte Kraliyet Donanması'na katılarak Kuzey Denizi konvoylarında görev almış ve bu süreçte üstün hizmet madalyaları kazanmıştır. Savaş sonrası tiyatroya dönen Troughton, Laurence Olivier'in yönettiği "Hamlet" ve "III. Richard" gibi yapımlarda küçük rollerle sinema dünyasına adım atmıştır. 1953 yılında BBC'nin "Robin Hood" dizisinde başrol oynamasıyla televizyon dünyasında dikkat çekmeye başlamıştır. En büyük başarısını ise 1966 yılında "Doctor Who" dizisinde başrolü devralarak elde etmiştir. Troughton, bu rolde "kozmik serseri" olarak tanımladığı İkinci Doktor karakteriyle dizinin rejenerasyon konseptini başarıyla uygulamış ve serinin devamlılığını sağlamıştır. "Doctor Who" sonrası dönemde ise farklı karakterlerle geniş bir yelpazede oyunculuk yapmayı tercih etmiştir.
