Quantum Leap, bilim kurgu türünün televizyon tarihindeki en özgün ve kalıcı izler bırakan yapımlarından biri olarak kabul edilir. 1989 yılında yayın hayatına başlayan dizi, Donald P. Dizinin ana karakteri Dr. Sam Beckett, geliştirdiği "Quantum Leap" adlı zaman yolculuğu projesinin deneysel aşamasında beklenmedik bir şekilde kendi ömrü içindeki farklı zaman dilimlerine ve farklı insanların bedenlerine sıçramaya başlar. Bu sıçramalar sırasında Sam, geçtiği bedenin sahibi gibi görünse de, aynayı gördüğünde kendi yüzünü değil, o kişinin yüzünü görür; ancak etrafındaki insanlar onu gerçek kimliğiyle değil, bulunduğu bedenin sahibiyle özdeşleştirir.
