William Russell — Sunderland, County Durham, England, UK doğumlu, 1924-11-19. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. William Russell Enoch, İngiliz bir aktör olarak 1956 yılında ITV'nin "The Adventures of Sir Lancelot" adlı televizyon dizisindeki başrolüyle dikkat çekti. 1963 yılında BBC1'in ikonik dizisi "Doctor Who"nun orijinal kadrosuna katılarak, Ian Chesterton karakterini canlandırdı ve bu rolü 1965 yılına kadar sürdürdü. Sinema kariyerinde ise "The Man Who Never Was" (1956), "The Great Escape" (1963) ve "Superman" (1978) gibi önemli yapımlarda yer aldı. Televizyonda, 1992 yılında "Coronation Street" dizisinde Ted Sullivan karakteriyle de tanındı. Son yıllarda "Doctor Who" ile olan bağını koruyan Russell, 2022 yılında "The Power of the Doctor" bölümünde Ian karakteriyle 57 yıl aradan sonra tekrar izleyici karşısına çıktı. Bu dönüşü, onun unutulmaz kariyerinin bir parçası olarak hafızalarda yer etti.
