Pete Duel — Rochester, New York, USA doğumlu, 1940-02-24. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Pete Duel, Dr. Ellsworth ve Lillian Deuel'in (kızlık soyadı Ellstrom) üç çocuğundan en büyüğüydü; oyunculuğa yönelen bir erkek kardeşi Geoffrey ve bir kız kardeşi Pamela vardı. Penfield Lisesi'nde okurken yıllık dergisinde çalıştı, öğrenci yönetimi için kampanya yürüttü ve Ulusal Thespians Derneği üyesiydi. New York'a taşındıktan sonra "Take Her, She's Mine" adlı komedinin turne prodüksiyonunda rol buldu. Sinemada iş bulmak için annesiyle birlikte 1963'te bir çadırla geceleyerek arabayla Hollywood'a gitti. Burada televizyonda çalışmaya başladı ve "Love on a Rooftop" adlı romantik komedide baş rolü aldı; dizi iyi izlenme oranlarına ulaşsa da ABC ikinci sezonu onaylamadı. Daha ciddi rollere geçmek isteyen Duel, 1970 civarında adını değiştirdi. Aynı yıl, Ben Murphy ile birlikte "Alias Smith and Jones" dizisinde kanun kaçağı Hannibal Heyes rolünü üstlendi. Sezonlar arasında Percy MacKaye'nin 1908 tarihli oyunu "The Scarecrow"un televizyon uyarlamasında rol aldı. 1968 seçim öncesinde Eugene McCarthy için kampanya yürüttü
