Biyografi

Carol Channing — Seattle, Washington, USA doğumlu, 1921-01-31. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Carol Channing, Amerikalı bir aktris, şarkıcı, dansçı ve komedyen olarak tanınmaktadır. Broadway ve film müzikallerindeki rolleriyle bilinen Channing, karakterlerine kattığı coşkulu ifade ve tanınabilir sesiyle dikkat çekmiştir. New York'taki Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre'da oyunculuk eğitimi almıştır. 1949'da Gentlemen Prefer Blondes ile Broadway sahnesinde yer almaya başlamış, 1964'teki Hello, Dolly! performansıyla En İyi Kadın Oyuncu dalında Tony Ödülü kazanmıştır. Bu rolleri kariyeri boyunca birçok kez canlandırmış, en son 1995'te Dolly karakterini oynamıştır. Sinema kariyerinde, Thoroughly Modern Millie (1967) filmindeki Muzzy rolüyle Altın Küre Ödülü kazanmış ve En İyi Yardımcı Kadın Oyuncu dalında Oscar'a aday gösterilmiştir. Televizyonda da çeşitli gösterilerde yer almış, 1985'te Alice in Wonderland yapımında The White Queen karakterini canlandırmıştır. 1981'de Amerikan Tiyatro Şöhretler Salonu'na kabul edilen Channing, 1995'te Yaşam Boyu Başarı Tony Ödülü almıştır. 90'lı yaşlarına kadar performans sergileyen Channing, 2002'de bir otobiyografi yayımlamış ve 2012'de kariyerini konu alan bir belgesel film çıkarmıştır.
