Robert Sterling — New Castle, Pennsylvania, USA doğumlu, 1917-11-13. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Robert Sterling, asıl adıyla William Sterling Hart, Amerikalı bir sinema ve televizyon oyuncusudur. Beyzbol oyuncusu ve hakemi Bill Hart'ın oğlu olan Sterling, Pittsburgh Üniversitesi'nde eğitim aldı ve oyunculuğa yönelmeden önce giysi satıcısı olarak çalıştı. 1939'da Columbia Pictures ile anlaşma imzaladığında, sessiz sinema dönemi western yıldızı William S. Hart ile karıştırılmamak için adını Robert Sterling olarak değiştirdi. 1941 yılında MGM'e geçen Sterling, uzun süre yardımcı oyuncu olarak istikrarlı bir şekilde çalıştı. İkinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında Hava Kuvvetleri'nde uçuş eğitmeni olarak görev yaptıktan sonra Hollywood'a geri döndü, ancak onyılın sonuna gelindiğinde sinema kariyeri zayıflamıştı. Buna karşın, MGM'in 1951 yapımı hit filmi Show Boat'ta Ava Gardner'ın canlandırdığı Julie karakterine karşı, şarkı söylemeyen Steve Baker rolünü oynadı.
