Lena Horne — Brooklyn, New York, USA doğumlu, 1917-06-30. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Lena Horne, şarkıcı, dansçı, aktris ve sivil haklar aktivisti olarak tanınan bir sanatçıdır. On altı yaşında Cotton Club'un korosuna katılan Horne, gece kulübü performansları ile dikkat çekti ve Hollywood'a geçerek birçok filmde küçük roller üstlendi. Özellikle Cabin in the Sky ve Stormy Weather gibi yapımlarda daha önemli roller aldı. Ancak, sol görüşleri ve Kırmızı Korku döneminin etkisiyle Hollywood'da kara listeye alındı ve iş bulmakta zorlandı. Bu durum, onu gece kulübü sahnelerine geri dönmeye yönlendirdi. 1963'te Washington'daki yürüyüşe katılan Horne, performanslarına ve albüm kayıtlarına devam etti. 1980'de emekliliğini duyurmasına rağmen, 1981'de Broadway'de sahneye koyduğu tek kişilik gösterisi "Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music" ile büyük bir başarı elde etti. 1990'lara kadar ara ara sahne alan Horne, 2000 yılında kamuoyundan uzaklaştı ve 9 Mayıs 2010'da New York'ta hayatını kaybetti. Hayatı boyunca dört Grammy, bir Tony ve bir NAACP Image Award kazandı; 1984'te Kennedy Center Honors ile de onurlandırıldı.
