Aretha Franklin — Memphis, Tennessee, USA doğumlu, 1942-03-25. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Aretha Franklin, Amerikalı bir şarkıcı, söz yazarı ve piyanist olarak müzik dünyasında önemli bir yer edinmiştir. "Soul Kraliçesi" olarak anılan Franklin, Rolling Stone dergisi tarafından iki kez tüm zamanların en büyük şarkıcısı olarak seçilmiştir. 75 milyonun üzerinde albüm satışıyla, dünyanın en çok satan müzik sanatçılarından biri olmuştur. Detroit'teki New Bethel Baptist Church'te gospel müziğiyle dikkat çeken Franklin, 18 yaşında Columbia Records ile anlaşma imzalamıştır. Ancak gerçek başarısını 1966 yılında Atlantic Records ile çalışmaya başladıktan sonra elde etmiştir. "Respect", "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)" ve "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" gibi hit parçalar, onun müzik kariyerini şekillendirmiştir. Atlantic Records'tan ayrıldıktan sonra Arista Records ile anlaşan Franklin, "Jump to It" ve "Who's Zoomin' Who?" gibi başarılı albümler yayınlamıştır. Toplamda 112 single kaydeden sanatçı, 18 Grammy Ödülü kazanarak müzik endüstrisinde kalıcı bir iz bırakmıştır.
