Janis Joplin — Port Arthur, Texas, USA doğumlu, 1943-01-19. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Janis Lyn Joplin, 1960'lı yılların en önde gelen kadın blues vokalistlerinden biri olarak kabul edilen Amerikalı bir şarkıcıdır. Kendine özgü, güçlü ve içten vokal tarzı ile çalkantılı ve duygusal yaşamı, onu döneminin en büyük kadın yıldızlarından biri haline getirmiştir. 1970 yılında 27 yaşında bir uyuşturucu overdosi sonucu hayatını kaybetmiştir. Joplin, yaşamı boyunca üç albüm yayımlamıştır ve ölümünden üç ay sonra "Pearl" adlı dördüncü albümü piyasaya sürülmüştür. Bu albüm, listelerde bir numaraya ulaşarak onun müzik kariyerinin önemli bir parçası olmuştur.
