The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) filmindeki Robin Hood karakteridir. Bu başarı, "The Charge of the Light Brigade" (1936) ve dönemin en pahalı Warner Bros. yapımı olan "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) ile devam etmiştir. Avustralya aksanına rağmen, "Dodge City" (1939), "Virginia City" (1940), "Santa Fe Trail" (1940) ve "They Died with Their Boots On" (1941) gibi büyük başarı kazanan western filmlerde rol almış, bu yapımlar türün yeniden canlanmasına katkı sağlamıştır. 1942 sonlarında iki 17 yaşındaki kızla ilgili tecavüz suçlamasıyla yargılanmış, beraat etm
