Anthony Newley — London, England, UK doğumlu, 1931-09-24. Oyunculuk alanında tanınır. Anthony Newley, Londra'nın Hackney semtinde Frances Grace Newley ve George Kirby'nin oğlu olarak dünyaya geldi. Genç yaşta oyunculuğa ilgi duymaya başladı ve Fleet Street'te bir çocuk oyuncu ilanı gördükten sonra bu alana yöneldi. 14 yaşında Italia Conti Sahne Okulu'na katıldı ve iki yıl sonra David Lean'in 1948 yapımı "Oliver Twist" filminde Artful Dodger rolünü üstlendi. Askerlik hizmetini tamamladıktan sonra, 1950'lerin sonlarına doğru "Idol on Parade" adlı şarkısıyla büyük bir başarı elde etti. İlk eşi Tiller Girl Ann Lynn ile 1956 yılında evlendi, ancak evlilikleri sorunlu geçti ve 1963'te boşandılar. 1960 yılında pop müzik listelerinde yedi kez yer aldı, bu dönemde Lionel Bart'ın yazdığı "Why?" ve "Do You Mind?" şarkılarıyla iki kez bir numaraya yükseldi. 1961'de Leslie Bricusse ile birlikte "Stop the World: I Want to Get Off" adlı hit sahne gösterisini oluşturdu; bu gösteri uzun süre Londra ve Broadway'de sahnelendi ve "What Kind of Fool Am I?" adlı hit şarkıyı da içeriyordu.
